After almost eight years of looking at photos online and saving up I finally caved in and bought a Mamiya RZ 67. For my first roll, I loaded Foma Retropan 320 Soft and was extremely surprised with the quality of the results. Even very busy scenes were a pleasure to look at.
I got similar results with a roll of Delta 400.
Overall, the results were significantly clearer and sharper than what I previously got on my Bronica. However, there is less “character” to the images and they look more digital in some sense. Here are some examples with Kodak Gold.
Exploring famous Bay Area photo spots with a new camera didn’t quite work out for me: the Taco Bell Cantina in Pacifica was completely covered in fog…
RZ 67 is also a much cheaper Hasselblad XPan alternative. These panoramic photos were shot using a 135 roll of HP5+, a 3D-printed adapter, and a 50mm lens. At some point I will scan these with sprocket holes to get the full picture.
